Jorma Leino, the visionary founder of Tekres Group, proudly upholds a four-generation family tradition of excellence in metalworking. Known as a genuine Finnish “iron hand,” Jorma embodies the skill, resilience, and innovation that define his heritage.
Born and raised on Finland’s west coast, Jorma grew up in a region rich in craftsmanship, where his father worked as a blacksmith. Inspired by his upbringing, Jorma pursued a technical education, graduating as a machinist and mechanic from a vocational school. Driven by his passion for metalworking, he took a bold step early in his career by purchasing a share in his father’s metalworking company. Under his leadership, the company embarked on a new chapter, focusing on the manufacturing and developing of steel components for reinforced concrete piles.
Jorma’s relentless pursuit of innovation culminated in creating the Auto-Lock Joint, a patented, self-locking, and self-tightening pile joint. This groundbreaking invention revolutionized the construction industry by dramatically accelerating piling operations and enhancing worksite safety.
With decades of experience observing piling operations, Jorma began to ask a forward-thinking question: why wasn’t the geoenergy being harnessed during piling? To him, the ground represented the world’s largest untapped battery, and piles could serve as its connectors. This vision led to the development of the Energy Pile, an innovative system that integrates energy solutions into reinforced concrete piles, enabling buildings to be efficiently heated or cooled using sustainable ground energy.
The extendable Energy Pile streamlines construction, saving time and resources and offering long-term environmental benefits. The Energy Pile provides an eco-friendly solution for end-users to reduce electricity consumption and cut cooling costs, cementing Jorma’s legacy as a pioneer in sustainable construction technologies.

Finland is renowned as the happiest country in the world, home to the best education system, and celebrated for being the cleanest, greenest, most stable, and safest nation globally. However, our transformation from an underdeveloped agrarian society into a global leader in high technology, digital innovation, and sustainable development has been driven by a uniquely Finnish resilience known as “sisu.”
Sisu – our signature blend of determination and grit – is deeply inspired by Finland’s breathtaking natural environment. About 75% of our land area is covered by forests, while 10% is made up of pristine lakes. Like Indonesia, Finland is an archipelagic nation, boasting tens of thousands of islands, most of them small and picturesque.
Our climate shapes our character: long, cold, and dark winters are balanced by short but warm, luminous summers. In Lapland, Europe’s last untamed wilderness, you can witness nature’s wonders, such as the Northern Lights in winter and Midnight Sun during summer.
Another cornerstone of Finnish culture is the sauna. With an estimated 3.2 million saunas – outnumbering cars – it’s no surprise that sauna culture is deeply ingrained in Finnish life. Research shows that most Finns experience their first sauna before the age of six months and continue to enjoy it throughout their lives, making it a symbol of relaxation, well-being, and connection to nature.
Today, Finland is a highly urbanized country with a population nearing six million. Our capital, Helsinki, is a vibrant hub of Nordic design, renowned for its innovation in architecture, furniture, tableware, and fashion. Helsinki is also famous for hosting Slush, one of the world’s leading startup and tech events, which connects entrepreneurs with investors and fosters global innovation.
Finland’s history is deeply intertwined with geopolitics. For centuries, our nation was under foreign rule – first colonized by Sweden and later by Russia. However, in 1917, Finland achieved independence, marking the beginning of our journey toward building a Nordic-style welfare state. Situated at the crossroads of Russia-led Eastern Europe and the Western World, Finland adopted a neutral stance in geopolitics during much of the 20th century to navigate the complexities of its unique position. Today, however, Finland stands firmly as a member of both the European Union (EU) and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), embracing active participation in international cooperation and security.
TEKRES International, part of the Finland-based TEKRES Group, is your all-in-one partner in green technology, offering specialized steel components for the piling industry and advanced extendable energy pile technology for construction projects.
